Bach to the Future

Art & History Camp (AGES 7 to 11)

Did you know that Bach had 20 children? Did you know that Beethoven became deaf? This historical camp explores the most prominent composers of each period of music. Each day we will explore a different period. On the first day, we will explore the Baroque period, the Classical Period, the Romantic Period, the Impressionist Period, and finally the 21st century. Students will leave this camp with a snapshot of Western music history and art that they will create in class. The goal of this camp is to learn about the composer's lives and to play a few of their pieces in an ensemble. This camp is best for students who have shown an interest in musical history and art.

Song Writing for Teens

Intro to Composition (AGES 10 to 15)

Does your child have a knack for composing or improvising? This unique camp teaches students how to write their first song in a "pop" style of 4-note chording. Students will have time to compose their first song, enjoy improvisational activities and ear training games, perform their song in front of an audience, and learn to create their first social media post on a platform that they choose such as Instagram Reels. The goal of this camp is for students to begin documenting their song writing journey. This camp is best for students who have shown an interest in composition and the facilitator would be able to help guide them forward. Students are expected to spend an additional 30 to 60 minutes each day outside of class time to work on their songs at home.
